We are looking for an Operator / Telephonist / Receptionist to join our busy family-owned taxi firm in Scarborough.

We operate 24/7 supplying both the residents and tourists of Scarborough and the surrounding areas with taxis.

Family owned for over thirty years – we pride ourselves on being on first name terms with our entire team of operators and drivers.
Regular working hours – all shifts are on a fixed weekly rota so you can plan your time off in advance. Each shift pattern alternates Saturdays so you will work one in two (after all, no one wants to work every Saturday!)
Customer base exceeding 23,000 families.
Our team of operators should aspire to be driver orientated and maximise driver earnings by selecting jobs based on driver location and deferring jobs which require unnecessary empty mileage.
All jobs are distributed using our Driver App system – you don’t have to be a computer wizard to use our system and training will be given, but be comfortable with basic use and data entry.
Full training will be given, including, answering the telephones, data entry on to the computer systems, greeting customers, radio control, working with drivers, sorting of emails / bookwork / paperwork and other relevant requirements around the office.

Trustworthy – you are representing the business and ultimately are the face of the business to the customer you are speaking to.
Reliable – the role in most cases consists of lone working, and as a small family firm, reliability from our team is key.
Customer Orientated – happy customers are returning customers, and it is imperative that customers are spoken to professionally and politely.
Confident – the role is heavily orientated around answering the phone and taking bookings. You should be able to lead the conversation with the customer to obtain the required information in as little time as possible (don’t let the customer tell you what they had for breakfast before booking their taxi).
Focused – the role, at times, can be very busy, and being able to work efficiently under pressure using initiative and accuracy is imperative.
Non-Bias – you must be able to work fairly – drivers are self employed and equally entitled to work.
CAYG (Clean as you go) – as a lone worker, you must have consideration of your colleagues and leave the office clean and tidy at the end of your shift.
